Trends in the UC community are moving away from large, costly, board-style conferencing

setups and toward less expensive, multiple smaller “huddle” rooms for collaboration and

conferencing.

Cloud-based conferencing solutions using Skype™, Jabber®, Microsoft Lync®, etc. are

becoming increasingly popular, as are “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) solutions.

Conference participants use a variety of their own devices, such as smartphones, tablets,

laptops, phablets, etc., and these can each have a variety of wired or wireless interfaces,

such as USB or Bluetooth®.

Within the UC market, there is growing awareness of the importance of microphone and

speaker quality and echo cancellation to audibility, which is discussed later in this white

paper in more detail.
